Inventory Management Specialist

The Job

Hartwig is one of the nation's leading CNC machine tool distributors. We have an opening for an Inventory Management Specialist who contributes to the success of Hartwig by ensuring Hartwig's parts inventory is accurate and relevant in order to deliver excellent customer service, achieve fill rate, minimize inventory, and meet other metrics to help the company make financially responsible decisions.

This full-time position, based in St. Louis, reports to the Manufacturing Support Products (MSP) Manager. Main responsibilities include:

  • Conducting analyses using sales data to determine optimal product inventory items and levels, ensuring customers can receive what they need in a timely manner while increasing fill rate
  • Reporting on inventory levels, highlighting risks and identifying key opportunities and obstacles inherent to the inventory forecasting process
  • Coordinating cycle counting process and fleet vehicle replenishments for the regions
  • Minimizing loss due to aged and unsellable products by maintaining sufficient but not excessive inventory levels
  • Making recommendations for improvements to inventory control processes and procedures
  • Working daily with service teams to complete cycle count process to determine parts variance and subsequent reconciliation. Providing weekly report to appropriate leaders.
  • Researching and creating spare part packages for customers upon request
  • Integrating effectively with MSP team to ensure overall business unit goals are achieved
  • Contacting individuals within the regions to obtain information to better understand products that helps with data analysis.

The Skills

Individuals who ideally fit this role should meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years relevant inventory management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, specifically excel (i.e. formulas, Vlookup, pivot tables)
  • Experience with inventory software, preferably with Microsoft GP inventory module
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Positive customer service attitude, and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
