Application Support Specialist

Hartwig is one of the nation's leading CNC machine tool distributors. We have an opening for an Application Support Specialist who contributes to the success of Hartwig by aligning information technology systems with business operations by analyzing and developing innovative integrated software solutions. This is accomplished by providing internal IT support, managing web-based services, installing and maintaining software applications and providing internal customer support and training. This role will include engaging departments and business leaders to support current business systems (GP, SalesPad, CRM, etc.) and will use proven knowledge of MS SQL and other specialized reporting tools to develop reporting structures as required.


Other responsibilities of this full-time position based in the St. Louis location include:

  • Providing technical assistance and cross training other team members on Microsoft GP, SalesPad, Dynamics CRM, FieldPoint, and company expenses software and new systems as they are implemented.
  • Coordinating and performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes, and other post-implementation support
  • Developing routines and procedures for end-users to facilitate best practice use of reporting tools and applications with various departments
  • Efficiently integrating new systems, programs, and applications with business operations
  • Ensuring end-user proficiency with systems, programs, and applications across departments
  • Determining system efficiency and functionality by working closely with internal departments and end-users.
  • Charting existing processes in order to define current reporting activities for the development of existing and future reporting procedures and models.
  • Meeting with systems owners and end users to define reporting requirements and goals.
  • Preparing and delivering reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in reporting systems across the organization using new technologies such as SQL, MS Power BI, SSRS, Jet Reports, etc.


The Skills

Individuals who ideally fit this role should meet the following qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with accounting field preferred
  • Experience working with end users and business leaders to translate complex data into visually appealing and understandable dashboards and reports
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server management, SSRS, CRM, Enterprise Accounting systems (preferably Dynamics) and Power BI preferred
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Demonstrated project management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Time management, strong organizational skills, positive customer service attitude, and strong verbal and written communications skills required
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
  • Professionalism and proactive ability to build long-term relationships with team members and customers
  • Capable of working independently and following established processes
